Fernie - An Overview

Fernie Alpine Resort is set in dramatic surroundings, enclosed by rugged snow capped mountain peaks and a carpet of lush green forest.

On average 29 feet of perfect Canadian powder snow falls on the mountain making this a skier and snowboarder’s paradise. There is endless adventure in the town as well as on the slopes as Fernie has a very unique flare and has so much more to offer than your average resort.

Numerous Runs

The mountain has an impressive 113 runs, five enormous bowls and tree skiing making this an exciting resort for experts and intermediates, with the lower mountain dedicated to wide open slope which is also perfect for beginners seeking freedom on to perfect their skills.

Compared to most ski resorts, Fernie has more expert runs than normal, which we think is a huge added bonus! So you will never get tired of trying out all of the different runs which all have outstanding views across the mountains.

New for 2011/12 Season!

Fernie opens the Polar Peak Lift, taking skiers and riders to the top of Fernie

Combine this with over 2500 acres of terrain over 5 Alpine Bowls, Deepest Snow in the Rockies and a year-long celebration commemorating 50 years of Legendary Skiing and Riding and you have a ski destination not to miss this winter!

The Polar Peak Lift adds an above tree-line Bowl skiing experience with over 22 new runs and the incredible experience of skiing off the summit of one of the highest peaks in the Lizard Range, Polar Peak. Many will enjoy making laps of the new Polar Peak Lift or one can enjoy the thigh burning fun of skiing some of the longest runs in the Canadian Rockies and 3550 vertical feet.

In addition to the new Polar Peak Lift, Fernie Alpine Resort offers nine other lifts and 140 marked runs – now having the most Ski Runs in the Canadian Rockies!

The Griz Bar

Après ski

If you like dining to be as chilled as your beer then après ski on the mountain is superb! You will find the atmosphere to be lively and laid back with no fuss menus, but still using the highest quality products. The Griz Bar at the foot of the mountain is the place to be with live music on and vibrant nightlife so that you can party the night away.

If you choose to stay in the town of Fernie then you have a much wider choice of restaurants and bars to choose from, and the townsfolk really make an effort to put together lots of different events and party nights for you to get involved in!

Dogsledding Tours

Activities

If you fancy something different, you can take the shuttle bus to the sister mountain of Kimberley where your Fernie lift pass is also valid to use for a day of skiing.

If you are a non-skier then this resort is ideal for you too as there are loads of activities on offer to keep you busy through the day such as snowmobiling, dogsledding tours, nature walks, aquatic centre, theatre, and so much more!
