Knight Inlet Lodge and Grizzly Bear and Wildlife WatchingKnight Inlet Lodge and Grizzly Bear and Wildlife Watching This thrilling tour is a quest to track down grizzly bears out in the wild of British Columbia. Not accessible by road, the Knight Inlet Lodge is hidden away on Campbell River situated on Vancouver Island. To reach the lodge at the mouth of the Glendale River, explorers will fly by floatplane which takes just 30 minutes and is 180km from Vancouver. The lodge floats on large cedar log booms and accommodates just 26 people in rustic luxury rooms, complete with private bathrooms. On-site there are also some extra luxuries such as a hot tub, saunas and guest lounges to relax in after a long day of exploring. Day 1 - Campbell RiverOn arrival at Campbell River, the day is free for you to explore and enjoy the recreational activities that are on offer at your hotel. The surrounding area of Campbell town is beautiful and it is a lovely area to go for a stroll and take in the scenery. The first night will be spent at the Heron's Landing Hotel in Campbell River.
Day 2 - Campbell River to Knight InletBright and early at 08:30, you will be transferred from our hotel in Campbell River to the float plane base. At 09:30 you will depart on your float plane on a short flight to Knight Inlet Lodge where you will receive a brief orientation on what you will be doing during your trip. In the morning you will embark on a small boat excursion in the estuary which will help you to find your bearings of the surrounding area that you will be staying in. There are two afternoon tours to enjoy: The first is an exciting bear viewing tour by boat (by boat in the spring and summer, and from late August to October on a viewing platform). The second tour will be a sightseeing cruise of Knight Inlet, and on each of these tours, you will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide trained in the local wildlife and natural history of the area. The evening is set aside for you to relax in the lounge area and unwind from a long day of bear watching, whilst enjoying an interpretive presentation by one of the guides from your tours. Day 3 & Day 4You can extend your bear watching stay for a 3rd and 4th night, which we highly recommend, where you can enjoy extra days of bear watching and learn more about the wildlife in the surrounding areas. By extending your stay, you can also take advantage of the many activities on offer locally such as hiking andjet boat tours. Day 5 - Departure DayIn the morning, you will have the opportunity for a final bear viewing boat excursion before your 10:00 return flight by float plane to Campbell River. What's included:
